The mission of the Baskin laboratory is to investigate the causes of congenital
and acquired pediatric urologic diseases. By understanding etiology we hope
to advance prospects for cure. The main focus of our research is to understand
how cells signal and communicate during normal and abnormal development.
The laboratory
has two main focuses: Define
the mechanism of smooth muscle differentiation in the bladder
Elucidate
the etiology of genital malformations such as hypospadias
Laurence Baskin, MD has been faculty at UCSF since 1993. He is a professor
in the Departments of Urology and Pediatrics, and heads the
pediatric urology program.
