Program in Urologic
Oncology (Clinical)
The Urologic Oncology Program serves the needs of an expanding
population of patients referred with all stages of urologic cancers.
It takes advantage of the University's preeminent position as
an institution with demonstrated excellence in biomedical research
and patient care. The program is based on the philosophy that
a multidisciplinary approach to the study and management of human
disease allows significant insight into the mechanisms of disease
induction and progression and spurs development of innovative
and more effective treatment regimens. Treatment plans tailored
to individual patient needs may include a variety of modalities,
such as surgical, radiotherapeutic and chemo- or immunotherapeutic,
delivered concurrently or consecutively.
Specific Objectives of the Clinical
Program
| |
Conduct a multidisciplinary urologic
oncology clinic that provides patients with expert, timely
and innovative care and investigators with an opportunity
to evaluate new methods of cancer diagnosis and treatment. |
| |
Conduct phase I and II trials of
new treatment strategies as they become available from various
agencies and accrue to phase III trials in collaboration
with national cooperative groups. |
| |
Develop and test novel approaches
to the management of urologic cancers. |
