140.06: UROLOGIC ONCOLOGY - Maxwell V. Meng, M.D. and Peter R. Carroll, M.D.

Tier 1B. The students play an active role in outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary conferences, management of inpatients and surgical cases. The participant will function as an integral member of the urology healthcare team along with senior urology residents and faculty. Students are expected to actively participate in the operating room, develop independent oncologic cases, case presentations, periodic literature reviews and treatment of cancer.

Course Objectives: 1. Interpret the current surgical management of renal tumors. 2. Perform a direct, yet complete physical examination. 3. Obtain a thorough and relevant history of patients with urologic malignancy and present the case to the healthcare team. 4. Measure, compare and summarize the treatment algorithms of testicular cancer. 5. Recognize the natural history of various forms of transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder and the upper urinary tract.
