The Finish Line!
Staff members from both the School of Medicine and Medical Center donned bright orange tutus during Project Open Hand’s fundraising event: The Giant Race held at AT&T park on August 4, 2013.

Team UCSF Urology was led by Dolores Madrigal, Medical Assistant Supervisor at UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. This was Madrigal’s second year at the event and expects that fundraising again exceeded goals which enables Project Open Hand to extend services to San Franciscans living with cancer.

Says Madrigal, “Its always a great feeling to do something for a good cause but its even more special when you do it with amazing people you spend so much of your days with such as all the staff here.”

And, you ask, where did they get those special orange tutus?  They were made with love by practice assistant; Jiemi-Lee Manaois after Madrigal had spotted similar outfits last year.

“I made all the girls hair ties,” laughs Madrigal, “we just tried to show our UCSF Urology and Giants spirit! We have a lot of that on our floor!”
