UCSF Pediatric Urology was recently rated tops in California and 12th in nation according to U.S. News & World Report best children's hospitals survey.  The department chief, Laurence S. Baskin, MD and his team won superior ratings in areas such as nursing care; use of infection-preventing measures; commitment to best practices; engaging families; adoption of health information technology and commitment to clinical research, among other accolades.

A round of applause is also due for other specialty programs at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, San Francisco. This year, UCSF became the only Northern California children's hospital to rank in every single specialty evaluated in the Report.

In addition to pediatric urology’s high ratings, UCSF's pediatric diabetes and endocrinology program rank the highest in Northern California, according to the survey.
