Dr. Farnoosh Nik-Ahd graduated cum laude with dual bachelor’s degrees in Neuroscience and Women’s Studies from UCLA. She then earned her MD at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where she was also inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her training in Urology at UCSF. As a resident, Dr. Nik-Ahd was recognized for her dedication to research in minority populations and for her mentorship of women in urology – special interests she continues to pursue as faculty. Her work has earned her numerous prestigious awards, including the National Institute on Aging StARR Grant, the American Urological Association Resident Research Award, and the Society for Women in Urology Outstanding Resident Award. She is dedicated to clinical care of marginalized groups, clinical outcomes research, and mentorship.
Dr. Nik-Ahd is a general urologist with particular interest in caring for patients with a wide spectrum of benign urologic conditions. Her clinical interests include benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), lower urinary tract symptoms, kidney stones, scrotal conditions, and gender-affirming care.
Dr. Nik-Ahd has research interests in benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH), prostate cancer in minority populations, and the impact of aging and frailty on surgical outcomes. She has conducted some of the largest studies on prostate cancer in transgender women which have been instrumental in changing national cancer screening guidelines in this population.
