Research Topic: Kidney Stones
Study Title: Registry for Stones of the Kidney and Ureter (ReSKU) Clinical Data and Specimen Collection
Research Team:
David Tzou, MD, Principal Investigator (PI)
Victoria Hogue, Clinical Research Coordinator
Sponsor: Department of Urology at UCSF
Study Overview
This study is collecting clinical information and biospecimens from people with kidney stone disease to better understand how kidney stones develop, recur, and are treated. Researchers will establish a registry to track patient care, treatment, and outcomes over time and identify factors that may contribute to kidney stone formation and recurrence.
The study will also analyze discarded samples collected as part of routine clinical care, such as kidney stone material, urine, extra blood, and kidney tissue, together with clinical information. By studying these samples, researchers hope to better understand the biological processes involved in kidney stone disease and improve future strategies for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
