UCSF Urology, once again, ranked as one of the best urology programs in the United States according to the 2021-2022 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals survey. Ranking #12 in the nation, #1 in San Francisco and #3 in California. The rating is based on a variety of factors including reputation with specialists, hospital performance, number of high-risk patients treated, patient experience, patient survival and safety rates, nurse staffing, and use of advanced technologies.

Separate pediatric rankings released in June recognized UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospitals in San Francisco and Oakland as Northern California’s top program in pediatric urology. Similar factors contributed to this rating including prevention of surgical complication and infections from urinary catheters, treatment for testicular torsion, and use of non-invasive procedures. Top ranked in children’s hospitals for their pediatric urology program in Northern California, ranking #15 in the nation, #3 in the Pacific and #3 in California.

"Our consistent recognition as one of America’s best urology programs is a reflection of our outstanding team who share the same vision of excellence in all of our missions.” says Raj S. Pruthi, Chair, Department of Urology. “We are committed to providing the highest quality clinical care, engaging in innovative research, and providing an outstanding education for future leaders in the field.”
