Our TEAM UCSF is growing and, so can you!
Septembeard.org is a clever non-profit, founded by advocate Art Wagner, which raises funds for prostate cancer research by asking volunteers to grow beards during September, Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
In 2013, UCSF received $60,000 from Septembeard to advance important research in prostate cancer thanks to generous donors who sponsored beards all over the country. Urology department chair, Peter R. Carroll, MD, MPH, views research as mission critical in our battle to fight prostate cancer. "Our continued commitment to clinical and laboratory research is reflected in an outstanding record of break-through discoveries, publications, grant support, and presentations at regional, national and international meetings. It is crucial we continue these advances and add to the collective pool of knowledge.”
This year’s TEAM UCSF is ready for business. Staff, colleagues and patients are encouraged to be a part of the team. You’ll get a “Join Me and Team UCSF” button, and we’ll have a celebration for the biggest fundraisers.
Mt Zion’s Friend-to-Friend shop will be joining us and promises to soon announce plans for a Beards and Beers happy hour.
