Thomas Chi, MD, Associate Professor UCSF Urology wins The Gold Cystoscope Award for his “outstanding research into the cause of urolithiasis and innovations in surgical techniques for kidney stone removal.”

Sima Porten, MD, MPH was selected as one of the final seven proposals to receive OptumLabs-funded access to its database of de-identified, linked clinical and administrative claims information.

Says Stan Rosenfeld, the group’s leader, the award was, “well deserved recognition for his invaluable contributions to the prostate cancer community.”

Dr. Suskind is being recognized for her cumulative work in the area of female urologic issues in frail older adults.  She will receive the award during the February SUFU annual meeting.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are cells shed by primary or disseminated tumors. They are easily obtained with a peripheral blood draw and therefore allow for a minimally invasive way to monitor tumor progression.
