Clinical Trials and Research Opportunities

UCSF Helen Diller Building

Advancing research is a core mission of the Department of Urology. Our faculty and affiliated research programs conduct clinical trials and observational studies focused on improving the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and survivorship of patients with urologic diseases, including genitourinary cancers and benign urologic conditions.

We offer a broad portfolio of research opportunities, including studies evaluating new medications, surgical and non-surgical treatments, imaging approaches, active surveillance strategies, and nutrition and lifestyle interventions. Our clinical research team supports both interventional clinical trials and observational epidemiologic studies designed to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.

Research conducted within the department is supported by the National Institutes of Health, the National Cancer Institute, foundations, industry partners, and institutional funding. Our investigators collaborate closely with cancer cooperative groups, academic medical centers, government agencies, and industry partners to advance innovation and bring promising new approaches to patients.
