UCSF Urology Vice Chair Robert Blelloch, MD, PhD, was recently elected to membership in The American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI), one of the nation’s oldest and most respected medical societies. The ASCI is made up of more than 3,000 physician scientists from a range of medical specialties who have distinguished themselves for outstanding scholarly achievement in biomedical research.

Reflecting the breadth of his research interests, Blelloch holds academic appointments in three UCSF departments: Urology; Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Sciences; and Pathology. Blelloch directs his own research laboratory, where his work is focused on molecular mechanisms that regulate stem cell differentiation and de-differentiation and how these mechanisms become deregulated in cancers, including prostate cancer.

Blelloch oversees basic science research within the Department of Urology, where he holds the Peter R. Carroll Endowed Chair.
