Benjamin Breyer, MD, MAS, Chief of Urology at San Francisco General Hospital, was recently recognized for his efforts to fine-tune the quality of care urology patients receive at the UCSF-affiliated institution. At its February meeting, the hospital’s executive team presented Breyer with The Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center Values in Action Award. Initiated recently by the leadership at SFGH, the award is given periodically to honor health care providers who are working to improve quality of care.
Breyer was recognized for initiating quality improvement efforts in both the operating room and urology clinic. These include daily huddles with urology, nursing and anesthesiology staff to improve communication and efficiency in the operating room, along with weekly meetings with these teams to fine-tune care.
