UCSF Urology intern resident, Claire De La Calle, MD, has been presented with a 2016 Krevans Award for exceptional compassion and skill in providing service to patients at San Francisco General Hospital. Awards are presented annually at the SFGH Medical Staff Dinner.
The Krevans Award, named after the fifth UCSF chancellor Julius R. Krevans, MD, is given annually to one intern resident in each specialty at SFGH in recognition of "excellence in patient care, as exemplified by clinical competence, professional conduct, compassion for patients and outstanding interaction with all levels of staff, including peers."
Benjamin N. Breyer, MD, MAS, Chief of Urology at SFGH, stated his gratitude to De La Calle as a representative of the Department's mission of providing exceptional and compassionate care to the SFGH community.
Says De La Calle, “Working at SFGH is challenging, and can be intimidating at first, but I think it's impossible to not get attached to the hospital, its staff and patients very quickly. The rotations that taught me the most, the staff I enjoyed working the most and my most memorable patient interactions were all at SFGH and for that I am very thankful.”
