In this video Micha Yin-Zheng Cheng, MD, MPH, MS, a resident in the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Department of Urology discusses the background of the UCSF UReTER (UnderRepresented Trainees Entering Residency) Mentorship Program.
The 2021 AUA Census found that 2.4% of Urologists identify as Black & 4.4% as Hispanic. The UReTER Mentorship Program was created by residents in the UCSF Department of Urology as a resource for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and Latinx Urology applicants. According to the program mission, its goal is to “create an annual opportunity for Urology to improve its diversity through resident-led mentorship of applicants who are underrepresented in our field.
