The UCSF Department of Urology is pleased to announce the appointment of David T. Tzou, MD, as co-program director of the Endourology Fellowship Training Program, where he will serve alongside David Bayne, MD, MPH.
Dr. Tzou succeeds Marshall L. Stoller, MD, who is retiring after many years of distinguished service as program director and later associate program director. Through his visionary leadership, dedication to innovation, and commitment to fellowship education, Dr. Stoller helped establish UCSF as a world leader in endourology and minimally invasive surgery. The department extends its sincere gratitude for his extraordinary contributions and wishes him all the best in his retirement.
Dr. Tzou joined the UCSF faculty as an associate professor in 2026, after serving as faculty at the University of Arizona. He completed an Endourological Society Fellowship in Endourology and Laparoscopy at UCSF under the mentorship of Dr. Stoller. He earned his undergraduate degree from UC Berkeley and his medical degree and urology residency training at the University of Arizona.

"As a former UCSF fellow, he is uniquely positioned to build upon the program's remarkable legacy while helping train the next generation of leaders in endourology."
An internationally recognized expert in kidney stone disease and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), Dr. Tzou specializes in advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques and translational research aimed at improving patient outcomes and safety. As co-program director, Dr. Tzou will work alongside Dr. Bayne to oversee the Endourology Fellowship Program and support its continued excellence in clinical education, mentorship and research.
