Biography

Emodi earned her bachelor's degree in molecular and cell biology at the University of California, Berkeley, where she also earned a master of public health degree, with a focus on infectious diseases and epidemiology. She then received a Fulbright fellowship to study tuberculosis infection in Brazil. She earned her master's degree in nursing from UCSF.

Emodi is a member of the American Urological Association and Society of Urologic Nurses and Associates. She has made presentations to local bladder cancer support groups and has been recognized as an advocate for bladder cancer patients. She also serves as a preceptor for UCSF medical students and manuscript reviewer for the Urologic Nursing Journal.

Clinical Interests

Krisztina Emodi is a nurse practitioner who cares for patients with cancers of the genital and urinary systems, specializing particularly in kidney and bladder cancer. She cares for patients before and after urologic surgeries, including urinary diversion, a procedure that reroutes urine flow when normal passage is blocked. She also assists with care relating to ostomies (surgically created openings in organs), neobladder reconstruction (a surgically created bladder) and complex urinary tract infections. In addition, she helps cancer survivors minimize their risk of recurrence through monitoring cancer surveillance while maximizing their quality of life.

Emodi is involved in research on the education and care of patients with bladder cancer.
