Dr. Rabow sees patients at the Mount Zion and Mission Bay campuses of the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center as part of the Symptom Management Service which focuses on optimizing quality of live by anticipating, preventing, and alleviating suffering across the duration of a patient’s illness.

Dr. Roach sees patients at the Mission Bay Campus. He is a professor of radiation oncology with a joint appointment with urology and recognized as a major authority on the treatment of localized prostate cancer.

Dr. Sharlip sees patients at the Center for Reproductive health. He is a nationally and internationally recognized authority on urological aspects of male reproductive and sexual medicine.

Dr. Shindel sees patients at the Parnassus campus with a focus on lower urinary tract symptoms, benign prostate hyperplasia, sexual dysfunction, and chronic pelvic pain syndromes. His primary research interests include sexual dysfunction in men and women, biological mechanisms of lower urinary tract symptoms, and medical education.

Dr. Shinoara sees patients at the Mission Bay campus of the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center with a primary focus on detection of and interventional therapy for prostate cancer. He is an expert in prostate imaging, employing the newest technologies for novel approaches.

Dr. Simko is a pathologist with a joint appointment in urology where he is internationally recognized for his ability to provide precise genitourinary pathology readings. He also oversees the Genitourinary (GU) Oncology Program's tissue core and chairs the GU Tissue Utilization Committee; the core provides high quality tissue specimens to researchers for study.

Dr. Small sees patients at the Mission Bay Campus. His patient care and research is focused on prostate cancer, immunotherapy and the mechanisms of resistance to standard therapies, most recently focusing on the development of treatment associated small cell/neuroendocrine prostate cancer (t-SCNC).
Professor and Director, Male Reproductive Health
Dr Smith sees patients at the Parnassus campus, and Mission Bay campus for issues relating to male reproductive health. He directs a multidisciplinary team providing fertility preservation counseling and treatment; evaluates and treats men with male reproductive health problems, desire for vasectomy, low testosterone, and erectile dysfunction.

Dr. Stoller sees patients at the Parnassus campus, Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center for issues relating to surgical management of urinary stone disease and minimally invasive endourology. His research has investigated modalities to improve the management of urinary stone disease.

Dr. Suskind sees patients at the Parnassus, Berkeley and Bayfront campus for issues related to urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, vaginal mesh complications, urinary fistulas, interstitial cystitis, bladder dysfunction related to neurologic disease and other forms of lower urinary tract dysfunction. Dr. Suskind’s research focuses on treatment outcomes in older adults undergoing urologic care, with a particular focus on frail older adults.

Dr. Van Kuiken sees patients at the Parnassus, Berkeley and Bayfront campus. She specializes in all aspects of lower urinary tract dysfunction including overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, and recurrent urinary tract infection along with pelvic floor disorders including pelvic organ prolapse, vaginal mesh complications, fecal incontinence, and urinary and obstetric fistulae.

Dr. Washington sees patients at the Mission Bay Campus. His speciality is the diagnosis and management of genitourinary malignancies, using minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic approaches to surgery.

Dr. Roan’s research laboratory is located at the Gladstone Institutes at Mission Bay. Her lab focuses on three main areas: determining how cell-extrinsic and cell-intrinsic factors can influence HIV transmission, pathogenesis, and persistence; understanding viral-specific immunity in the context of immune protection vs. immunopathology, including in the context of COVID-19; and understanding the roles of seminal plasma and endometrial cells in reproductive health.

Dr. Ruggero is a scientist at the Helen Diller Family Cancer Research Center at Mission Bay. His lab is focused on understanding the molecular mechanisms by which impairments in accurate control of mRNA translation, cell growth, and overall cellular protein synthesis rates lead to cancer.

Dr. Van Blarigan is a researcher with Urology and the department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics. Her research is focused on the role of nutrition and physical activity in cancer survivorship.

Dr. Van Den Eeden is a collaborating researcher with the UCSF Department of Urology whose interest is in prostate cancer research and other non-cancer genitourinary conditions. He is a senior epidemiologist at the Division of Research at Kaiser Permanente Northern California.

Dr. Witte is an epidemiologist with a joint appointment in Urology. His research constitutes applied and methodologic genetic epidemiology, with the overall aim of deciphering the mechanisms underlying complex diseases and particularly prostate cancer.
