Clinician Faculty
Associate Professor, Department of Medicine and Urology
Dr. Lin is a medical oncologist specializing in genitourinary cancers and sees patients at the Mission Bay campus of the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She has a special interest in enabling patients to have access to cutting edge clinical trials and outstanding research at UCSF.

Dr. Lue is internationally recognized for his research on and clinical treatment of male sexual function, Peyronie’s disease, priapism. He sees patients at the Parnassus Campus and is Director of the Knuppe Molecular Urology laboratory which focuses on penile physiology, cavernous nerve regeneration, various types of erectile dysfunction, stress incontinence, overactive bladder and endogenous stem cells.

Dr. McAninch sees patients at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital. He is recognized as a national and international leader in the field of genitourinary trauma and reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Meng sees patients at the Parnassus campus and the Mission Bay campus of the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center where he specializes in all urologic cancers and complex cases. His research focuses on bladder and renal cancers.
Assistant Professor in Residence; Urologic Oncology
Dr. Nguyen sees patients at the Mission Bay campus of the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center specializing in early detection, diagnosis, and management of prostate cancer, kidney cancer, bladder cancer and other genitourinary malignancies. His primary research focus is in elucidating the adaptive response pathways that prostate cancer cells use to evade cell death.
Assistant Professor of Urology
Dr. Odisho sees patients at the Mission Bay campus of the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center specializing the diagnosis and management of genitourinary malignancies. Dr. Odisho’s research focus combines his technical and computational background with his interests in caring for patients with urologic cancers, especially kidney and prostate cancer.

Dr. Porten sees patients at the Mission Bay campus of the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center with a primary focus on treatment for bladder cancer. She is Principal Investigator for the bladder tissue biobank with the goal of discovering new tests and novel therapeutics to bring personalized medicine to patients with bladder cancer.

Dr. Kenfield is a researcher located in the Helen Diller Family Cancer Research Center at the Mission Bay campus of UCSF. She is interested in nutritional and lifestyle risk factors for prostate cancer incidence and progression to identify opportunities for prevention and improved survival in the millions of men diagnosed with prostate cancer worldwide.

Dr. Kurhanewicz is recognized internationally for his research in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and spectroscopic imaging (MRSI) of patients with prostate cancer and was involved in the development and translation of this technology into the clinic.

Dr. Lin is a researcher in the lab Knuppe Molecuar Urology Lab under Tom Lue, MD on the Parnassus campus. The lab focuses on the molecular mechanism of impotence, female stress urinary incontinence, Peyronie’s Disease and discovery of new markers for prostate and bladder cancer.

Dr. Palmer is a public health scientist, dedicated to unraveling the mechanisms of cancer disparities, with a depth of knowledge in cultural influence, patient-centered communication, and strategies that enhance delivery of high-quality prostate cancer care.

Dr. Paris is a scientist where she studies translational cancer genomics research. The overarching goal of her laboratory is to identify drug targets with associated prognostic biomarkers.

Nurse Practitioner
Ms. Perez is a nurse practitioner who sees patients at the Mission Bay campus of the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. As the clinical point person of the Active Surveillance Program, she, along with the surgical faculty sees and provides clinical guidance to over one-thousand three-hundred participating patients in this prostate cancer management regime.
